I am Abrielle – a young creative and entrepreneur invested in Experience Design for users, services, products, and physical spaces

“Abrielle – That’s Gabrielle without the G.”

– Me

As a child, I was disapproving of my name because it was different and uncommon. As I grew up and had the opportunity to discover the world, I began to realize that there were millions of unique names and mine was no different. Today I celebrate my uniqueness and implement it in my authentic lifestyle, especially UX design. As a UX-er myself, I understand the necessity to create authentic experiences for every user. I strive to do just that.

A Little About Me

I was brought up in the small town of Portland, MI where I attended a private K-12 school. It was there that I developed a passion for design, creativity, and learning. Being with a class of only twenty students, I learned the values of collaboration, understanding, and empathy early on. When I was not in school, you could find me playing guitar or piano, bowling a 190, throwing shotput or discus, Irish dancing, clearing brush, or trying something new, like making candles. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel Europe, Asia, and Central America discovering rich cultures, fascinating architecture, different landscapes, and of course delicious food. I have tried my hand at recreating some of the fantastic foreign dishes and am glad to say some turned out quite well.

After high school graduation in 2017, I attended Michigan State University to become a Neurologist. After the first semester, I knew my talents lied in another direction. I made the change to Media and Information major focusing on Human-Computer Interaction, giving me the opportunity to make tech work for the users -both consumers and providers- and give them something they enjoy using over and over. I added on minors of Graphic Design and Entrepreneurship the following year and picked up more hobbies, including quilting, painting, and designing an interactive LED light display. It resides at the MSU Engineering Building.

I participated in two Startup Weekends as an aspiring entrepreneur. I also attended two Third Nature (formerly Startup Island) trips, a personal and professional growth program, and later became an advocating Campus Ambassador for the program. I took on a research position at Behavior, Information, and Technologies Lab at Michigan State during my third year focusing on human social interactions in online communication platforms. I also had the opportunity to work with Michigan Virtual on their Customer Experience team in Lansing helping facilitate beta testing for a new online credentials platform for educators. I currently work in Customer Services at RCP Artist Services in Portland, Michigan specializing in fine art scanning and printing, photo restoration, custom framing, and digital design work.
